Recording a single-vehicle accident
A report can still be useful when no second moving vehicle is involved, for example after contact with an object, animal or road feature.
Describe what was involved
Record the object or feature accurately, the vehicle’s direction, the point of impact and the visible damage. Do not invent a second participant.
Property and public infrastructure
If another person’s property or public infrastructure was damaged, follow local reporting duties and exchange or report contact details as required.
Insurer instructions
Ask your insurer which form and evidence it requires. A generic accident report may not be the only required notification.
